Happy Monday, babes! Last week on Instagram I mentioned a Q&A post and asked you guys to send me your questions. Among them were some more serious-ish ones I decided I’d answer this week and let you get to know me a little better. Here goes!
Q: What was your biggest struggle since starting your blog?
Writing what I want to write, despite others. My posts are often me just spilling my heart on the page… and I love that. But my biggest struggle has been allowing myself that freedom when I’m aware certain people are going to read it. Sometimes my words may be upsetting to others or invite criticism, but I’ve made an oath to myself and my blog, to always tell my truth, no matter what.
Q: How would your friends describe you?
Asked a couple of my ride or dies to pitch in for this one. They said: “An old soul. Compassionate, generous and funny”. Jesse said “Cute but annoying” which I’m sure he meant in an endearing way.
Q: How would your family describe you?
Crazy, ambitious and strong-willed. Occasionally a melodramatic pain in the arse. 😏
Q: Do you believe that things happen for a reason?
Yes, 100%. I believe God’s hand is on even the smallest details of our lives. I don’t think there’s such thing as chance or random happenings.
Q: What’s the hardest part about not living in your home country?
Feeling as though nowhere is actually home anymore. I’ve lived in NZ for such a long time that England is no longer familiar. Yet I still feel like a foreigner in New Zealand, even after 10 years here. It’s a weird feeling.
Q: What is a relationship deal breaker for you?
Lies. We can work through anything if you’re honest. But if you can’t trust someone’s word, what can you trust?
Q: What are the top 5 things you look for in a guy?
1.) A true connection. Someone on my page, sharing my beliefs, values and morals.
2.) Loyalty & trustworthiness.
3.) Has a passion (for literally anything, I don’t care, just please don’t be blasé about life).
5.) A witty (preferably slightly twisted) sense of humour…
…the list goes on cause I’m fussy af haha. Though I will say this – sometimes we tend to put too much focus on our “checklist”. It’s good to maintain high standards but I think occasionally we should turn inward and contemplate how we can improve ourselves in order to tick someone else’s boxes. I always think of the quote: “Instead of looking for the right person, focus on becoming the right person.” Like attracts like. If you know you’re high value, you’re sure to attract someone of high value.
Q: What’s the most important thing in a healthy relationship?
Putting the other person before yourself.
Q: When was the last time you cried?
Yesterday. I’m a baby, I cry all the time. It’s cathartic don’t ya know?
Q: What do you like most about yourself?
My determination and ‘dream big’ attitude. Shout out to my mum for raising me to believe I can achieve anything.
Q: What do you like least about yourself?
My struggle to battle negative thoughts and the constant strive for unattainable perfection (I know, deep).
Q: What are your thoughts on online dating or tinder?
Okay, so. I joined Tinder after my breakup earlier this year. It was partially a joke, partially an attempt to remind myself there are seven billion other people on the planet. I didn’t go on any dates but was seriously surprised by how many genuinely good conversations I had. I don’t have the app anymore, but I will say that I love how the internet has provided us with the opportunity to cross paths with people we’d otherwise never meet. Not sure if it’s true but I read somewhere that by 2040, almost 70% of couples will have met online!
Q: What is your biggest aspiration in life?
I have lots of aspirations and goals, but at the end of the day, I just want to live a life of meaning. And hopefully, make someone else’s life a little better along the way.
Q: Favourite Bible verse at the moment?
This is a verse I’ve been meditating on every day, recently:
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Tell me in the comments what your answers would be for some of these questions. I’d love to read through them & get to know you all better! ☺️
